Back in Session!

School is back in session and I have found it really hard to stay updated on almost everything besides lesson planning.  This blog has kind of taken a backseat to that, so here is a little update!

Before school started, John and I decided we really needed some sort of getaway so we went to Jackson/Yellowstone for a few days.  It was SO much fun and an amazing first family vacation!  It was fun to be on our own and not have to cater to anyone else.  Johnson loved it and was a really good sport about being in the car so much!  We started off in Jackson (2 nights).  We enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights.  We also enjoyed watching the Olympics on TV  in our hotel!  We spent the rest of our trip in Yellowstone looking for animals!  John saw a bear (I missed it) super close to us as we ate lunch at Jenny Lake.  We did get to see a lot of elk, bison and bald eagles!

Leaving Johnson has been SO much harder this year than last!  I think, because I had such a fun time playing with him everyday this summer, and we became so close!  He is my little buddy, and dropping him off for daycare is not getting easier!  We went in a few times before school started to set up and he was a lot less helpful this year!  Haha I took his bike in with us and that helped entertain him for a little while.
Another new obsession of Johnson's is riding in toy cars.  He is so funny!  I found my old Little Tikes car at my dad's office and he has LOVED playing in it!  He also loves the car carts at Maceys!  It is really hard to get him to leave them at the store however and get in the car!  I decided once to put him in a regular cart to avoid the drama, and he screamed every time he saw another kid riding in one.  I've come to the conclusion that it is easier to battle him for a few minutes after my shopping is done, than have him throw a fit the whole time I'm shopping!
I have so much more to update but I don't have anymore pictures on my laptop right now!  Until next time....

1 Year!

I am a little slow on posting this, but Johnson is now ONE YEAR OLD!  Crazy!  Time seriously flew by this year!  Here are some highlights of his 12th month :)

Surprisingly, he still isn't walking.  He's got the strength, just not the interest!  He crawls so fast, I think he just doesn't feel the need to walk.  However he does love to push things around!

This month we spent a lot of time with family, starting with the Israelsen Reunion.  We went up on Saturday and spent the day.  It was so fun to take Johnson to the cabin for the first time.  We took the hiking backpack and went on a couple of hikes to the beaver dam.  The hardest part was naps.  Since we didn't have a Pack N Play we had a hard time putting him down.  Somehow, John was able to get him to sleep on him which he hasn't done in months!

Next, the Blair Reunion in Bear Lake!  We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the lake with John's family.  This year we rented a house RIGHT on the lake with private beach access which was amazing!  We didn't have to worry about waking up early to beat the crowds!  Johnson was in heaven!  He loved splashing and eating the sand!  He also had a great time playing with his cousins!

We came home from Bear Lake a few days before Johnson's actual birthday.  The night before I blew up a bunch of balloons and put them in his room for a wake up surprise.  He was a little confused but excited!  He loved playing with them in his crib!  That day we went to breakfast at Center Street Grill with some of my family to celebrate.  After nap time we met up with Ester and Milo for ice cream and to play.  John and I took Johnson to dinner at Chilis and he opened his gifts before bed.  He got a basketball hoop and a little race car track.  It was an emotional day for me because I was so sad that he is growing up, but it is so fun to see the cute kid he has become!

On Sunday we had Johnson's carnival bday party.  It did not go as planned, but turned out to be a good time.  I had big ideas of having a circus tent outside with really cute decorations that I had been planning for months.  In the end, a huge windstorm came through as we were setting up and we ended up moving into the preschool, and I had to sacrifice most of the decorations.  Johnson somehow ended up with a HUGE bite on his head and a scrape from falling down the stairs when we were setting up. :(  But he had a great time.  Some of John's family even made the drive!

Here are a few pictures of him playing with some birthday presents!  He got LOTS of cars which he was super excited about and hasn't stopped playing with!

This last monthly photo was a struggle.  He does NOT like to hold still!  John tried to help me, and this was the best we got!

We also took Johnson to the UFOMT gala dinner.  He didn't want to sit still, but enjoyed eating the berries out of our drinks!  He sure looked handsome!  We cannot believe a year has already flown by!  Our little boy is the best thing that has ever happened to us and we couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect child!  Love you bubba!
